Saints slam four goals

ST Michaels Reserves made a dream start to the new football season.

They secured a conclusive 4-0 victory at Penketh United in Warrington and District Football League Division Three.

Tony Wynn bagged a hat-trick and Terry Cartwright also netted.

Division Five debut team Waterloo Wanderers were unlucky to lose 3-2 against Burtonwood Albion Reserves.

Centre half Ian Dowd celebrated his 40th birthday with a solid display for Wanderers, while man of the match Dave McMahon provided a goal for Paul Roberts and Gary McMahon fired in a penalty after Burtonwood's three first-half goals.

Premier Division champions Rainhill Town won 1-0 at 2005 champions Halebank with an 80th-minute Dave Grindley goal.
