Ashley House is the first 'one stop shop' of its kind in the north west, offering advice and support, plus a wide range of treatment options, all under one roof.

"The aim is to deliver a more dynamic approach to tackling the harm caused by drugs and alcohol," said Lesley Cleworth, Halton's joint commissioning manager for drugs and alcohol.

"Staff working within the unit are committed to ensuring that Halton has a useable, accessible range of services that focus on the diverse needs of service users, their families, carers and the community."

A �600,000 renovation has transformed the three-storey building, on the corner of Ashley Way and Victoria Road.

A wide range of statutory and voluntary sector agencies covering health, social care and the criminal justice system will be based at the centre.

Cllr Marie Wright, Halton Council's board member for the community, said: "This will be an excellent facility for people who are experiencing difficulties with drug and alcohol.

"Staff at Ashley House will be able to provide help and support for Halton residents by delivering services locally.

"I wish the project every success."
